The decision to adopt is a lifelong commitment to exploring matters of identity development, confronting hard questions, deciding if and when to search for birth/first families and constantly developing new skills and aptitudes. This workshop will provide information, tools, and resources to create a sense of hope as parents explore their, future as an adoptive family. This workshop is appropriate for adoptive parents, waiting parents, and professionals.
This two hour Adult Adoptee Discussion Panel: Growing Up Adopted, offers a rare opportunity to listen as five adoptees have an open and honest conversation about our lived experiences as Adoptees. You will have a chance to hear our recommendations and insights first hand as we share our stories.
We Will Be Discussing:
- The Impact of Being Adopted in our communities
- How Birth/First Roots & Family Formation played a role in our identity
- How we decided on when and how to search for our Birth/First families
- The developmental stages of our identity, and how it has changed over time.
