The decision to adopt is a lifelong commitment to exploring matters of identity development, confronting hard questions, deciding if and when to search for birth/first families and constantly developing new skills and aptitudes. This workshop will provide information, tools, and resources to create a sense of hope as parents explore their, future as an adoptive family. This workshop is appropriate for adoptive parents, waiting parents, and professionals.

This two hour Adult Adoptee Discussion Panel, offers a rare opportunity to listen as five adoptees have an open and honest conversation about our lived experiences as Adoptees. You will have a chance to hear our recommendations and insights first hand as we share our stories.

We Will Be Discussing:

  • The Impact of Being Adopted in our communities
  • How Birth/First Roots & Family Formation played a role in our identity
  • How we decided on when and how to search for our Birth/First families
  • The developmental stages of our identity, and how it has changed over time.
